Shirley "Dani" Leyrer (Inducted in 1985)
Sculptor
"Dani" first enrolled at Orange Coast College in 1967. She also attended the Laguna Beach School of Art, and California State University, Long Beach. A well-known sculptor and artist, her work has been exhibited at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Museum, the Laguna Beach Museum of Art, the National Academy of Design, and the Hudson Valley Art Association. She is noted for her bronze sculptures. Her work has been purchased by the R.W. Norton Art Foundation in Shreveport, Louisiana, and the Favell Museum in Oregon. Articles about Dani have appeared in Southwest Art Magazine, Orange County Illustrated, the Los Angeles Times, Dawn Magazine, Design Review, Orange Coast Magazine, and This Week in Laguna. She was formerly an art instructor for the City of Costa Mesa, and Costa Mesa Art League. Her art work has been used extensively in teaching speech to hard-of-hearing children in the Newport Mesa Unified School District.
